The University of Arizona Division of Trauma/Critical Care/Emergency Surgery is seeking two additional surgeons (Assistant or Associate Professor) to join a very active practice of eight core surgeons. The additional surgeons are needed to accommodate the substantial growth in our program in both clinical volume and academic responsibilities within the Department of Surgery.
Our trauma facility is an American College of Surgeons verified Level I trauma center, and is the busiest in Arizona. Our hospital is the only trauma center in Southern Arizona serving 1.5 million residents, with a trauma volume of approximately 5,000 patients per year. The trauma center is located in a new tower that opened in 2009, and houses a modern 20 bed surgical ICU as well as a new 50 bed emergency facility with a separate 7 bed trauma bay. The practice includes trauma, critical care, and emergency surgery. Our surgeons also perform elective general surgical operations.
The position is for those with a demonstrated interest in academic surgery who are looking for a position with sufficient protected time and support for research interests. Those who want to make a difference in our profession while having a lot of fun working with great surgeons who love their job need to apply. Come and see for yourself.
